Tortoises are Featured Guests at Maine Book Festival

The Story of Neeps and Tattie “hatched” again in August at Maine Authors Publishing‘s Annual Book Festival. Amy and Diane gave one of the two keynote presentations and spoke about how the idea for their book evolved, and how it has led them down a path of advocating for and supporting tortoise conservation efforts.  

Denise Cieri, director of Herp Haven, a Maine reptile rescue, joined Amy and Diane during the presentation, introduced three of her rescued tortoises, and answered questions from the crowd about her rescue efforts in New England.

After the presentation, children were invited to do a tortoise craft and to also spend time with the three tortoises who roamed around on the grass near the author tents.
